With the adjustment of China's energy structure and the development of its national economy, the large-scale introduction of LNG clean energy has become an inevitable trend, and the construction of LNG receiving stations has also experienced rapid development. BOG compressors are key equipment for handling LNG vapor. Currently, horizontal opposed balanced compressors with direct low-temperature air intake have a high market share in international LNG receiving stations, but China relies heavily on imported related products.
Zhejiang Qiangsheng Compressor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. collaborated with Xi'an Jiaotong University, Sinopec Natural Gas Company, and Sinopec Luoyang Engineering Co., Ltd. to jointly tackle key challenges, developing low-temperature cylinder materials; creating a low-temperature cylinder structure with proprietary intellectual property rights; proposing a calculation method for bolt pre-tightening force under low-temperature conditions, achieving one-time pre-tightening at room temperature for BOG compressors; completing dynamic temperature variation theoretical analysis and testing of key components such as low-temperature chamber parts, friction pairs, and seals, enhancing the reliability of the unit. They developed a low-temperature test system for BOG compressors with proprietary intellectual property rights, enabling partial load assessment tests under low-temperature conditions for complete machines in the factory; and applied for 3 relevant invention patents and utility model patents.
On September 19th, the China Machinery Industry Federation hosted a demonstration meeting in Wenzhou for the horizontal opposed balanced BOG compressor prototype for liquefied natural gas (LNG) jointly developed by Zhejiang Qiangsheng Compressor Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Xi'an Jiaotong University, Sinopec Natural Gas Company, and Sinopec Luoyang Engineering Co., Ltd. The experts on the appraisal committee listened to the summary report of the research and development, inspected the production and testing sites, and reviewed relevant documents and materials related to design, manufacturing, testing, inspection, and quality assurance. After discussion, the appraisal committee concluded that the developed horizontal opposed balanced BOG compressor prototype for LNG meets the requirements of the research and development agreement, technical conditions, and relevant standards, and has passed the appraisal.
The BOG compressor that passed the evaluation this time has an inlet temperature range of -160℃ to -90℃, an inlet pressure of 0.1MPa, an exhaust pressure of 0.87MPa, an evaporation capacity of 14t/h at -144℃, and a power of 1100kW. The unit underwent six performance tests in the factory, totaling over 144 hours of assessment tests, and was inspected by the National Compressor Refrigeration Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Center. All indicators met the technical conditions and relevant standard requirements.
It is reported that the procurement price of the same type of BOG compressor device abroad is approximately 20 million yuan. The successful development of its localization has not only changed the domestic situation of relying on complete sets of imported equipment, but also enabled strong price competition with foreign products, creating significant economic benefits for China's natural gas industry.
